Fred straightened out a group of papers and slipped them into his backpack. He threw in some quills, then gently set the ink in the front pocket. After stashing in a few books Fred slung the pack around his shoulders. Finally Friday had arrived and that meant he was class free for the weekend. He had just a few homework assignments he had to do and decided to bring them out to the Black Lake.
When he had walked by the Great Hall on the way to Gryffindor house he had noticed how nice it was outside. Fred walked over to the portrait hole and stepped out. He descended the stairscases then ended up at the entrance to Hogwarts. The doors were open and he stepped outside. In the sky the sun was hidden behind puffs of white clouds. They shifted and moved constantly letting sun shine through in thin beams of light ever so often.
A soft breeze was blowing, not too strong but enough to keep it cool. Fred walked across the grounds and continued on to the Black Lake. He drew near the water and sat down on the ground, the grass prickled his legs for a few moments then didn't bother him any longer. Fred pulled the pack from his around his shoulders and set it next to him. He leaned back on his arms and just relaxed as he watched the water ripped.
The sun popped up reflecting off the surface, it blinded Fred briefly before the clouds covered the sun once again. Fred sighed happily then reached into his bag and pulled out a heavy book. He then took out a piece of parchment, his quill, and ink. The paper already had a few things written on it for Transfiguration and Fred knew he didn't have much more to do to finish it.
He wasn't really one to do homework first then play but last weekend he had played first and never finished his homework. His grades had slipped slightly and he knew his parents would be dissapointed if it continued. That was why he decided to try a new tactic. Once he finished the work he could move on to playing around with a new pranking formula. One of his favorite, if not his favorite, hobby.

Lily too was thankful that it was Friday, though she had different ideas about homework. She was putting hers off at the moment, not really motivated to do it. She's wandered downstairs from the common room and was drawn outside by the bright sunshine. There was a smile on her face as she headed out onto the lawns.
She thought briefly about getting in some practice, but was deterred by the sight of several Slytherins heading onto the pitch and so she turned the other way, heading towards the lake. As she walked across the lawns towards the edge of the lake. She saw a familiar head of red hair and grinned, lightening her steps as she drew closer to sneak up behind her older cousin.
She came up behind him and abruptly covered his eyes. "Guess who!" She said, trying not to laugh as she did. It was silly she knew, but fun none the less. Besides, pouncing on him probably would have upset the homework she had noticed he was working on.

Fred was finished up the last sentence on his Transfiguration homework when he felt someone cover his eyes. He smiled when he instantly recognized the voice of the person behind him. It was impossible not to know his young cousin's voice. He had heard it all of his life and especially from all the pranks they pulled together.
"Hey, Lils," Fred said, greeting her. He folded up his piece of paper and shoved it into the book he had used to work on. Then he put it all in his bag and sealed off the ink so it wouldn't spill. He still had another few pages of homework but put it off for the moment to talk to Lily.
It had been a really long time since he was able to talk to her since school started. "How have you been?" Fred asked, once he had finished putting all his things away.

When her cousin instantly knew who she was, she uncovered his eyes and flopped down in the grass beside him. She was wearing a skirt, but it really didn't bother her. She laid on her back, looking up at her cousin. "Pretty good. Avoiding my homework." She said sticking her tongue out before laughing. "Same old, same, old. What about you? Any glorious escapades that I haven't heard about?"
She was dying to bother him about Parker, but she decided to let it wait. Just the other day at breakfast she had realized that her friend had a crush on him and she really wanted to hook the two of them up. She just wasn't sure how to go about it yet. So she figured she would slip it into the conversation later.

Fred leaned back on his elbows again and looked up at the clouds passing by. "I've been good, just trying to keep my grades up," Fred said, and thought about all the pranks he had pulled lately but there hadn't been any that were too exciting. Then he remembered when him and Parker had broken into the ingredients cabinet.
"I did break into the potion's teacher's ingedients cabinet with Parkera few nights ago," Fred said, smiling at the memory. It was one of the more riskier things he had done since returning to school. He had also gotten Parker involved which was probably something he shouldn't have done. At least they didn't get caught though, that made it a bit better.
