“Yup, he’s one of my closest friends, I know he likes to prank you here and there. For the moment we’re working on an amazing prank but I won’t say more about this one, you’ll find out what it is…probably soon enough.”
Kenji turned his head toward Shirley as she mentioned a prank. He nodded, expecting to hear from it soon. Or more like test it soon. He was Fred's favorite lab rat. For one very good reason: Fred only had to show the prank to Kenji and ask him to test it that he is doing it. Not like he doesn't know that box may explode in his face or that letter to spill something at his face. He knows all of it. But he tries them every time. He even found a few amusing in fact.
He didn't have the time to turn to Mira that Shirley spoke once more to him. Was he lonely? He paused a moment to think of it then shrugged. "I am used to it." he said. He knew though, by Shirley's attitude, that she might not understand. She was not the kind of girl enjoying being alone or the silence for that matter. But he did, he did greatly. But one glance at Mira made him understand she knew what he was talking. Yes, she too was enjoying silence, having no one disturbing you when you were doing your things. The two of them were probably the kind to have to be dragged at a party and would stay alone in their corner instead of chatting and dancing around.
"Is there something wrong with being alone? Sometimes privacy is a sense of..."
"... security." he finished, guessing what she was to say. He had a feeling Mira needed to be cut out from the others while Kenji just was used to it and never really cared. People their age could be so immature at times. Only on highly serious matters were they able to mature some. But Kenji seemed to never had been a child. He was a baby and then, a young adult.
"Being alone allows you to focus on what matters to you without disturbance or fearing others find it stupid. Everyone have different taste and some just can't accept others to do thing not like them. Loneliness then allows you the time to do what you truly want." he explained for Shirley. Maybe that way she wouldn't pity them for always being alone. It was not the others forcing them, they were alone by choice, well at least Kenji was.
